Remembering 9/11

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks which brought down the infamous World Trade Center building and changed the face of America. I can remember how devastated I became when this tragedy occurred. Only a few months fresh out of high school, I awoke to a random episode of the daytime talk show "Ricki Lake", only to read the ticker located at the bottom of the screen, indicating to turn to my local news coverage.

As I turn Ricki's last romp to one of the news channels, I was kinda surprise as to why there was an airplane that hit one of the sides of the Twin Towers in NYC. My initial reaction was that it was a brainless mistake by an incompetent flight captain. I mean it wasn't every day that you receive news that someone flew a plane directly into a building. Moments later, my ridicule turned into shock as a second plane struck the other remaining building. It was then that I realized that this wasn't a game.

The sight of frantic thousands of people either retreating from the building or fighting for their life as the two buildings collapsed to the ground brought instant tears to my eyes. I have never seen anything as traumatizing as this before. I felt horrible for even thinking that this was a joke.

After the aftermath occurred, it was then that I had known that America was at war. Two years ago, I had the opportunity of visiting the actual reconstruction site where both World Trade Center buildings had stood tall. I was instantly emotional as I reflected on how much sadness and horror that occurred during its destruction. Each year as the anniversary approaches, I grow somewhat depressed as history is relive over and over throughout television across the nation. But I'm happy that as the years of 9/11 had gone by, Americans have become stronger than ever, in my opinion. We are still at war to some extent but America has bonded over this emotional landmark in history.

Music Video: Marsha Ambrosius 'Late Nights & Early Mornings'

Marsha Ambrosius serves up the sexiness in her latest single off her hit-making album, "Late Nights & Early Mornings". The starlet taps into her softer side, revealing a positive message on the dangers of not protecting ourselves in light of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. HIV/AIDS is STILL a major issue affecting our country. Its effect is damaging and killing millions of people. The video's subliminal message is evident throughout the two minute and fifty three second video. Please wrap it up and wear condoms. Protect ourselves and the ones we love from infectious diseases. You could save a life -- even your own.

Beyoncé's Latest Single Hits Radio

Credit Sony Music Entertainment

Iconic and superstar triple threat Beyoncé is one again single handedly taking over the music industry. Three years after the release of her third album, I Am...Sasha Fierce made waves with infectious hits such as "Sweet Dreams," "Diva," "If I Were a Boy," and, a personal favorite, "Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)," Knowles has entered the arena with a brand new project affectionately titled, "4."

After my initial response to the LP's first single, "Run the World (Girls)," I almost lost faith that Beyoncé could take over the world with new music. Making superb performances at the Billboard Music Awards and during Surprise Oprah! A Farewell Spectacular, the song has somewhat grown on me. I find myself either bobbing my head to it or immediately running to the dance floor as the song appears at various nightclubs. Other contributions to "4" have followed with the leak of the track "Till the End of Time," an unmastered version to be featured on the album under the title "End of Time" and "1+1", an intriguing ballad that received buzz during Beyoncé's televised performance on the tenth season finale of American Idol. The song, as well as the album 12-track listing, was released on the same day.

Now, Beyoncé once again drops the debut of her second single, "Best Thing I Never Had," a catchy mid-tempo track that resembles the essence of her former hit, "Irreplaceable" off her B'Day album. Reception has been well received by this new single. "4" hits stores on June 28, 2011.

In other news, former Destiny's Child band mate, Kelly Rowland, has finally revealed the title of her upcoming third album. The new title is called "Here I Am" and will include the hot new single, "Motivation." The Lil Wayne collaboration track has been heating up the charts around the world. "Here I Am" is expected to see the light of day in the fall.

Charlie's Angels Redux?!?!

In the '70s, ABC acquired a gem of a series that would later start a phenomenal franchise. That, ladies and gentlemen, was Charlie's Angels. This series followed the adventures of three beautiful and skillfully trained women whom took orders from an anonymous leader by the name of Charles Townsend a.k.a. Charlie. Accompanying the women was the companion and confidante Bosley. Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith and the late Farrah Fawcett-Majors played the leading ladies all known to the world as Sabrina, Kelly and Jill, respectively.

Although I wasn't even born when the series debuted in 1976, I forever became infatuated with the three women. The action was on point and the stories were brilliant. After the success of its initial season, Fawcett-Majors prematurely departed the series. This was disturbing as she was an integral part of the main storyline. She was replaced by the equally beautiful and talented Cheryl Ladd (Ladd assumed the role of Kris, sister to Fawcett-Majors' Jill). Ladd became an unique fit to the show, and provided Fawcett-Majors to return to the series in a recurring basis.

Jackson soon followed and departed after the third season. Her exit was devastating and the show never recovered from the loss of another angel. Jackson was replaced by model-turned-actress Shelley Hack. Hack was cast as Tiffany Welles, another new recruit. The fifth and final season saw the arrival of another new actress to the show, Tanya Roberts. Roberts was hired as yet another new angel, Julie Rogers (Hack left at the end of the fourth season). Unfortunately, the hype soon ran out for Charlie's remaining angels as the show followed cancellation. Nearly twenty years later, the franchise was rebooted as film starlets Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore became the newest angels in the film, Charlie's Angels, and its sequel, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle.

Now, the story continues as ABC has added a new revival series to its 2011-12 prime-time schedule. Charlie's Angels now stars newcomers Annie Ilonzeh, Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor as the newest additions to the Townsend Agency. Joining the line-up with popular shows such as Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice, the new series proves to once again charm the hearts of its fans, myself included.
